Reimagining the bassinet, naturally

Aardra’s bassinet is a simple and natural, first bed for your baby. Handcrafted using upcycled newspaper, it comes with a 100 percent cotton mattress.

The making of the bassinet

The newspaper is drawn into tubes by hand and handwoven using the traditional weaving method that gives the product its sturdiness and durability. The paper is coloured, further strengthened and finished using eco-friendly materials.

The bassinet is NOT subjected to any fumigation or noxious chemical processes.

The making of the mattress

The fabric used for the top and bottom layers of the mattress is hand woven and hand dyed. The dye is created from locally available flowers and the bark of trees. The fabric has been sourced from Charaka, a women's collective situated in Heggodu near Sagar, Karnataka. The colours of the fabric are unisex and are derivatives of the seasonal flora of the region.

The functionality

The bassinet is easily transportable to different parts of the house or when you are travelling. Your baby will always have their own snug bed wherever they go.

Note: While these bassinets are incredibly strong, they are not intended for carrying the baby around. The recommended way is to place the bassinet down on even ground and place the baby in for a nap.
