Our Projects
What's a handmade product? We believe it’s a piece of the crafter's soul brought to life by the energy and love that go into its making. Handcrafting is more environmentally sustainable as the process uses little or no power compared to a mass-producing assembly line. Of course, a lot of effort and thought go into their design and development. Often, we collaborate with architects, upcyclers, artistes, anyone like-minded. The results, as you will see, are exquisite.
Thinking outside the trash can
Rebooting furniture
Pioneer marine conservationist Jacques Cousteau believed that “Water and air, the two essential fluids on which all life depends, have become global garbage cans.” We not only agree but believe we can do something about it by thinking outside the trash can…
Reimagining the bassinet, naturally
Aardra’s bassinet is a simple and natural, first bed for your baby. Handcrafted using upcycled newspaper, it comes with a 100 percent cotton mattress.
Designing modern lung spaces
Have you ever seen a wind’s eye? Originally, a hole in the wall for ventilation, it's simply a window without glass. We’re bringing them back into your homes, replacing wood veneer, cane, and glass with newspaper cleverly woven into windowpanes. Sitting pretty on the inner windows of your sitting room, they are sure to get the conversation going. Now, that’s what we’d call ‘a window with a view!’
Bringing woven motifs to architectural design
What's in a frame? An interesting thought captured forever, a story revisited, aesthetic expression of anything that fires the imagination. Aardra’s framed weaves have found their place in walls and doors, letting them breathe afresh and inviting you to make conversation. So, when an architect asked us to weave our warps and wefts into frames and panels that would provide artistic relief to the walls, all we could say was “Done.”
